This page explains what information Cherokee Eats (eatincherokee.com) collects, why, and who handles it. Cherokee Eats is part of Cherokee Loop, a group of local sites for Cherokee County, GA.
Browsing the site
You can use Cherokee Eats without an account and without giving us any personal information. Restaurant search and filters run in your browser; what you type into the site search is not sent to us.
Tips & corrections form
If you send a tip or correction, we receive the restaurant name, the type of tip, the city and the details you write. Your email address is optional; if you give it, we use it only to reply to you. The form is processed and stored by our web host, Netlify, using its forms feature. We use tips to add or correct listings.
Place ratings
Each restaurant page has a star-rating form. A rating sends the star value you pick and which restaurant it is for. It does not ask for your name or email. Ratings are processed by Netlify Forms and are reviewed before they appear on the site.
Newsletter signups
Cherokee Eats Weekly is sent for us by Cherokee Happenings, another Cherokee Loop site. When you sign up, your email address, the newsletter you chose, and a record of your consent are sent to Cherokee Happenings, which delivers the email through Sender (sender.net), its email delivery provider. We use your email only to send the newsletters you tick, and we never sell it. Every email has an unsubscribe link. How Cherokee Happenings and Sender handle signups is described in the Cherokee Happenings privacy policy.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are used. It does not use cookies, and we use it only to see overall traffic. See Cloudflare Web Analytics for details.
Cookies & browser storage
Cherokee Eats does not set cookies. We save two small things in your browser's local storage, on your device only:
- A note that you closed the newsletter signup bar, so it stays closed.
- A note that you already rated a restaurant, so the rating form doesn't show again for it.
You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Other services pages load
To show the site, your browser also contacts a few outside services, which receive standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type: Netlify (hosting), Google Fonts (typefaces), and OpenStreetMap (map tiles). Each handles that information under its own policy.
Inspection data
Inspection grades, scores and dates come from public Cherokee County health inspection records published by the Georgia Department of Public Health. They are about businesses, not about visitors. See About grades & sources.
Contact & changes
Questions, or want a tip you sent removed? Email hello@eatincherokee.com. If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and its effective date.
